Kenwoood Ladies’ Pond Association (KLPA) is a voluntary organisation of women who care about the pond. Its main aims are:

  • To promote the interests of the users of the pond
  • To represent their views to the authority responsible for Hampstead Heath
  • To cooperate with staff in the proper running and maintenance of the Pond so that it may continue to be a quiet, peaceful place for women and girls to bathe, swim and relax.

The KLPA is independent of the City of London and the Hampstead Heath management. It is run on a purely voluntary basis for and by pond users. There are no paid staff. Officers and the committee are elected at the AGM, which is usually held in March.

Our priority is to preserve the pond with its peaceful, natural qualities and to maintain it as a women’s swimming place. Occasionally this means we need to lobby or campaign.

Otherwise, we exist to provide information and encourage more women to enjoy more about the pond. We produce a newsletter about three times a year and organise events for fun like a festive swim at midday on New Year’s Day and a summer outing to a river, lake or seaside. The AGM is usually followed by a short talk to do with the pond or wild swimming and is also a social gathering where everyone enjoys drinks and a pot luck feast.

Please join as a member for just £5/year, and receive all our updates about events and more.
