'...the KLPA did wow the Port Eliot festival goers with wild swimming. The high tides were big and brave, currents changeable but we did our reckies - 6 of us, Margaret Dickinson, Sara Saunders, Jane Smith, Hannah Pearce, Lydia Pearce, Fiona Leach, Vicky Griffiths and me who wimped out of the full swims (the water was colder we were told this year) but made myself useful with wheelbarrow transporting the swimmers' clothes with 2 others from KLPA and sometimes volunteers from the wild swimmers' friends. We all went upstream together and the swimmers swam down like mermaids and mermen from the banks of the delicious and semi salty estuary. Daniel, the publisher of our book, Wild Swimming Walks, straddled in a kayak behind the daily wild swim.
Margaret and Sarah also spoke to an audience about wild swimming and our book.
The festival was great fun, artists of all kinds....like a costume swimming cap workshop as well as the renowned workshop P Eliot flower hats worn to the side! Music and food until late but that didn't deter Port Eliot festival goers from the early swims.
